GIS - Interactive Mapping
What is GIS?
GIS (Geographic Information Systems/Science) is used to link geography based information such as land parcels, land features and addresses, with corresponding database information. This creates a geographic information system, commonly called a GIS.
You can use our interactive mapping service (MyMap) to view information alongside Ordnance Survey mapping. The information you can view covers a wide range of subject areas including ward boundaries and polling districts, public open space, council car parks, play areas or listed buildings.

Although all information captured by us, or provided to us, is as accurate as possible when we publish it, we do not accept any liability for errors or omissions and advise you to use the information as a guide only.
What can I do with mapping?
Supply of mapping
As a Local Authority we are allowed to hold mapping of various types and scales under the PSMA 'Public Sector Mapping Agreement'. This Agreement forms our license with the mapping suppliers.
Because our license restricts us to Local Authority production only, we are unable to supply base mapping in either hard copy or electronic format, even at a charge, to any separate external body unless employed by the Council to carry out contracted work.

All maps are produced from Ordnance Survey derived mapping data with the permission of the controller of Her Majesty's Stationery Office. © Crown Copyright. Unauthorised reproduction infringes Crown Copyright and may lead to prosecution or civil proceedings.
Planning Applications
If you require a plan to be submitted with your Planning Application, purchases can be made from our Guildhall offices. Costs are available by phoning the Planning Administration Team on 0300 330 7000.
