Gypsy and traveller accommodation assessment
The Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment was commissioned on a countywide basis in response to the Housing Act 2004 which requires local authorities to consider Gypsies and Travellers accommodation needs in their local housing strategies.
The initiative was required due to Gypsies and Travellers being among the most disadvantaged sectors of society in terms of their accommodation.
The aim of the study is to quantify the accommodation and housing related support needs of Gypsies and Travellers. This is in terms of residential and transit sites and bricks and mortar accommodation. The results will be used to inform the allocation of resources as an evidence base for policy development in housing and planning.
