Northampton Town Council consultation

Consultation information

We are carrying out a two-stage consultation over the possibility of creating a new town council for much of the existing borough.

Three options are being put forward during the initial engagement stage, that will help distil these into a single proposal which will then be consulted on.

The first stage is now live and will run until 31 March 2019, during which specific groups are being conferred with over the three initial proposals, though anyone can fill in the questionnaire and feedback will be used to create the final proposal.

The three options are:

  •   No change – no town council would be created
  •   A town council for the entire unparished area of the existing borough
  •   A town council covering the unparished area of the Northampton South parliamentary constituency

In addition, under the consultation process we also welcome any suggestions or recommendations for new community/parish councils in the unparished areas of the existing borough.

You can request a print copy by emailing [email protected] or calling 01604 837111.

The consultation phase will follow in April/May 2019 and will also be open for anyone to comment.

The results of the consultation at both stages will be carefully considered by the full council at two separate council meetings which members of the public can attend.

You can give us your views on the consultation by completing the questionnaire at the link below.
