Virtual International Women’s Day celebrations
Northampton Women’s Forum will host a virtual programme of activities marking the International women’s day on Saturday, 6 March.
The virtual celebration streamed live from 11am via Northampton Borough Council's YouTube channel, hosted by Councillor Anna King and Pauline Woodhouse, the Co-Chairs of Women’s Forum, will provide an action-packed programme that will include a range of activities and interactive sessions such as making banana caramel muffins and feel good advice sessions on dealing with stress through nutrition, using essential oils as well as a pampering.
Lauren Fitzgerald, Crew Commander at Kettering Fire Station will be exploring this year’s theme #choosetochallenge by sharing her experience of working in traditionally male dominated roles.
Attendees will be entertained throughout the day with singing performances from groups including Northampton Rock Choir and will be able to meet the previous winners of the Inspirational Woman Awards.
BBC Radio Northampton presenter, John Griff, will be announcing the Inspirational Woman Award winners.
Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “Coronavirus has meant this years’ awards will be virtual, but we’re looking forward to delivering a worthy celebration of the many women who are committed to making our communities a better place.
“I encourage everyone to get involved and show their support by signing our card, changing their profile frame for their Facebook presence or donating to charities who support our communities to get through these challenging times.”

Facebook users can also help spread awareness about the International Women’s Day by updating their profile with the profile frame available at profile frame gallery or sharing a support message that would include the hashtags #IWD2021 and #ChoosetoChallenge.
