Severe Weather Emergency Protocol activated

Published: Saturday, 08 February 2020

Northampton’s Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is being activated this weekend in response to the Met Office's warning of heavy rain and very high winds on Sunday (9 February)

Northampton’s Winter Shelter (run by Northampton Borough Council in partnership with the Hope Centre, Midland Heart Housing Association and NAASH) provides somewhere safe, warm and dry for rough sleepers to go during severe weather.

The Winter Shelter will operate from the Hope Centre in Oasis House overnight  - from 9pm until 7am the next morning - tonight (Saturday 8 February) and tomorrow (Sunday 9 February).

As SWEP is being activated at short notice, most of the services that would normally be involved in completing referrals and risk assessments will be closed for the weekend.

If you know someone who is sleeping rough and who would like to access the Winter Shelter, please advise them to visit Oasis House in Campbell Square, Northampton, at 9pm on both nights.
