The elves and the giant shoe maker come to town
Children and families will be in for a giant treat on Saturday 31 August, as the elves and the shoemaker come to town.
From 12pm, Festive Road will be leading short story telling sessions on the Market Square, sharing an adaptation of the famous ‘Shoe maker and the elves’ tale, with a Northampton twist.
The hourly storytelling sessions last approximately 15 minutes and include a giant puppet created by Festive Road, as well as plenty of opportunities for audience participation.
The free sessions, which are being delivered as part of the wider #CelebrateNorthampton summer programme of activities, will run at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Other attractions in the town that day include Gwynhaff, a pedal powered dragon, who will also be roaming the Market Square and a human powered orrery, which will be based at All Saints Church plaza.
Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “We can all remember reading the popular ‘Shoe maker and the elves’ book and these story telling sessions provide an opportunity to share the tale with residents and visitors, whilst linking in with Northampton’s shoe heritage.
“The story telling sessions are free, so please come along and enjoy the show.”
