Interactive heritage treasure quest to liven up the town centre

Thrills seekers are invited to join a live, interactive challenge taking place in the town centre on Saturday 17 August.

The Heritage Treasure Quest, led by the Looking Glass Theatre and Northampton Borough Council, will see two teams of audience members battle it out to win the prizes at 10am and 2pm on 17 August.

Offered at a discounted price of £2 per person, the teams of up to six people, will be supported by a Treasure Hunter as they fight the clock to track down and solve clues about Northampton’s history.

The clues are hidden in a variety of locations across the town centre, including statues, businesses and buildings. And the team who finds all of the clues in the fastest time will win a treasure trove of prizes from local businesses, thanks to the support of Northampton Town Centre Business District (BID).

Prizes include a ride on children’s car from A-Plan insurance, vouchers from Naked Hair and Beauty, GHD products from Finlay’s and tickets to 78 Derngate.

Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “We’re really excited to be working with the Looking Glass Theatre and Northampton Town Centre BID to bring a live action challenge to Northampton.

“Not only is this great way to learn more about our history, the challenge will see people discovering the nooks and crannies of the town centre as they seek out the clues that often get over looked or forgotten. We can’t wait to see it all unfolding on 17 August.”

James Smith from the Looking Glass Theatre said: “"Looking Glass are looking forward to be presenting this fun new interactive Treasure Quest. As well as an opportunity for one team per tour to win a hamper, it will also explore historical places and shops in the challenge of finding all the clues"

Mark Mullen, BID Operations Manager, said: “This BID is delighted to be supporting and promoting this treasure quest, with an enticing array of prizes donated by our town centre businesses.”
