One hundred artists from across Northamptonshire will have their work on display at Abington Park Museum when the annual Art in the Park exhibition opens this Saturday.

The open art exhibition has accepted submissions from throughout the county, both amateur and professional, and for the first time this year will also include a number of works from the Hope Centre’s art therapy group.

Subjects include nature, landscape, cityscapes, animals, abstracts, figure studies and portraiture with techniques ranging from watercolours, to print, mixed media, acrylic, photography, oil and pen and ink. Many of the exhibits are available to buy and range in price from £25 to £350.

The annual exhibition, which is now in its 58th year, will be opened by Mayor of Northampton, Councillor Tony Ansell.

Councillor Anna King, cabinet member for community engagement, said: “Last year we had 75 artists taking part and it is wonderful to see we now have 100 artists represented in the exhibition.”

Art in the Park opens in the courtyard at Abington Park Museum this Saturday 11 May and runs until Sunday 16 June. The museum is open from 1-5pm, Thursday to Sunday and on Bank Holiday Mondays. The museum is also open from 1-5pm Tuesday to Sunday during Northamptonshire school holidays.
