Local Plan Part II goes out to consultation next month
A document which sets out how Northampton will deliver more than 13,500 new dwellings by 2029 will go out for public consultation at the start of May.
Content of the Local Plan Part II was agreed by Northampton Borough Council’s Cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday 3 April.
It sets out the planning policy framework for Northampton for the next ten years and includes detail on sites identified for new housing, regeneration of the town centre, and expected quality of development.
Members of the public will have an opportunity to comment on any element of the Local Plan Part II with the possibility of effecting minor amendments before it is submitted to the Secretary of State for consideration by an independent Planning Inspector.
Cllr James Hill, Cabinet Member for planning, said: “This is a key document which will help guide delivery of new housing developments across Northampton.
“It is important that we consider as wide a range of views as possible before presenting the document to the Government.
“Anyone wishing to engage with the consultation should remember that they will need to present a robust argument backed up by national planning policy to ensure their views can be taken into account.”
