April action days to promote personal safety
Improving the personal safety of residents and visitors is the main aim of four action days being held during the April half-term holidays.
Beginning on Monday 8 April at Midsummer Meadows at 12pm, Northampton Borough Council and Northamptonshire Police are teaming up to spread personal safety tips and aids, at various locations in the town centre.
As well as information, protective credit card cases, personal alarms and protective bottle caps, people will also be able to pop by and chat to local Neighbourhood Officers and get their bike security tagged at the partnership stall.
Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “The sunnier weather and lighter days at this time of year, unfortunately can see anti-social behaviour and crime spike. We hope that our partnership action days, not only help to make the Police and our enforcement officers more visible but also to give people plenty of tips and aids that can help prevent them becoming a target of crime.”
PC Mike Rogers of the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These events are an ideal opportunity to work with our partners to provide residents with access to a range of personal safety and crime prevention information in their local community.”
Action days will also be taking place on 12 April, 1pm to 3pm at All Saints Plaza, 17 April, 12pm to 2pm, at Midsummer Meadows and on 18 April, 11am to 1pm in the Grosvenor Centre.
