World AIDS Day in Northampton 2018
A ceremony to mark World AIDS Day will take place on the Guildhall steps on Monday, 3 December.
People who live, work and visit Northampton are invited to join the Mayor of Northampton, Councillor Tony Ansell, at 12pm as he shares a few words, holds a minute’s silence and lights candles to raise awareness of World AIDS Day and increase understanding of HIV and AIDS and their effect on people’s lives.
World AIDS Day has been marked for the past 30 years. It is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.
Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “World AIDS Day is such an important day. It reminds us all that HIV has not gone away. There is still a vital need to improve education and raise money to help organisations that are working on a cure and those that provide invaluable support to those living with HIV."
