Northampton Museums and Art Gallery are holding a Transport Day on Saturday, 2 June, between 1pm and 5pm at Abington Park Museum.

Vehicles at the event will include a vintage tractor, a TK fire engine, a Rebels formula stock car and two Cedos motorcycles, built in Northampton between 1919 and 1926.

A working Bassett-Lowke gauge one model railway will be in action on the day, along with a collection from 78 Derngate, while lovers of motorsports can try an F1 simulator and view objects and car parts from both Silverstone and the Grose archive.

Northampton Transport Heritage will also be offering short rides on the original Northampton number 154  bus, which dates back to the 1940’s, and visitors can try their hand at sailing Hollowell Sailing Club’s model yachts on the park’s boating lake.

Children can join in with an aeroplane craft session and refreshments will be available to purchase on the day.

Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety said: “This is set to be a great day out for all the family and we are really pleased that so many different collectors are coming together for this occasion.

“Visitors will have a unique opportunity to view and experience some really unusual vehicles and models.”

The event is free to attend.
