New play area to be opened by Mayor of Northampton

A new play area on Aberdare Road is to be officially opened by the Mayor of Northampton, Cllr Gareth Eales, on Friday, 13 April.
Beginning at 11am, with a few words from the Mayor, the opening will provide residents the opportunity to check out the new equipment as well as to chat to their local neighbourhood warden, park ranger and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO).
Gallone’s will also be on hand to treat members of the community to a free ice cream.
The play area was built earlier this year, after the Dallington Brook area of Northampton had been identified as having limited access to play equipment.
A public consultation during October 2017, helped to gain residents’ opinions on the proposed layout for the play area as well as the play equipment, which includes a swirl roundabout, see-saw, a climbing frame, swings and a multi-play frame.
Cllr Mike Hallam, Cabinet member for environment, said: “The play area has been much needed in Dallington Brook for some time. I thank everyone who shared their views in the consultation and hope that the play area continues to be used well in years to come.”
Cllr Gareth Eales, Mayor of Northampton, said: “As the local Ward Councillor, I know that the community will be delighted with the new equipment, which provides families with a safe place to bring their children, close to where they live.”
