New Rectory Farm play equipment confirmed
Rectory Farm residents will see their local park undergo a small facelift later this year, with two pieces of new equipment being introduced and a general tidy-up planned.
Four play equipment options were suggested to residents during a public consultation in February, pairing a swirl round-about with a cobra sea saw, a cockerel see saw, a buddy board or a spinner.
In the end, the swirl round-about and buddy board pipped the other options to the post, after it was selected by 21 people as their first choice and by 13 people as their second choice.
Following feedback from residents, there are also plans for replacing the swing seats and repainting existing equipment, during the refurb, which is hoped to take place, once the funding has been confirmed, in the new financial year.
If further funding becomes available in the future, the suggestions made by residents, for additional play equipment, of which a zip line was the most popular, will be explored.
Cllr Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “We had a fantastic response to the public consultation, with 73 residents sharing their thoughts and ideas for improving the local play area.
“We look forward to progressing the plans to install the new equipment and clean up the area, later in the year, so that families can enjoy the updated space during the summer months.”
