Forum supports local landlords

More than 80 private sector landlords and letting agents attended a meeting last week to find out more about changes to the law and local housing enforcement.

The Landlord Forum took place in the Guildhall and covered topics such as the implementation of the Housing and Planning Act 2016, the expansion of the housing enforcement team and changes being made to the definition of Mandatory HMO.

The forum also gave landlords the opportunity to share their thoughts and pose questions to over 20 experts from housing enforcement, planning, fire safety and trading standards.

Attendees also got the chance to find out more about the work of Northampton Borough Council’s housing options and advice team and its social letting agency, Guildhall Residential Lettings.

Cllr Stephen Hibbert, Cabinet member for housing and wellbeing, said: “Our Landlord Forum meets three times a year with the aim of maintaining a regular dialogue with landlords and agents, sharing best practice and information and, in turn, creating better conditions for tenants.”
