Unwanted recycling boxes

Please leave your unwanted recycling boxes at the kerbside, as Veolia are collecting daily. Alternatively, you can use your boxes for storage or additional recycling alongside your new recycling bin.

Staff costs at Northampton Borough Council are being reduced again this year as part of the authority’s medium term financial strategy.

The Council needs to make a total of £11.2 million savings in the next five years, due to shrinking Government grants, and has already made significant cuts to its back office.

And with further cuts expected in the Government settlement, more savings are being explored for the coming years which could save more than £2.5 million.

Cllr Jonathan Nunn, leader of the Council, said: “We have a number of vacancies across the organisation which present us with an opportunity.

“We are in a position where we can take some decisions about whether our current structure is appropriate or whether changes might be warranted, with minimal impact on job security.

“We have already identified certain vacant posts which will not be filled as current capacity can just about cope with demand on our services.

“The figures within the budget are largely notional but we believe could be achieved and once the budget is agreed in February we will be in a position to identify where some of the savings are to be made.

“Part of this work will take longer than a year, hence the scaled proposed savings over the next three years.”
