Local disability health and support organisations will be setting up shop in the Grosvenor centre on Sunday, 3 December.
Between noon and 3pm on the Sunday, the organisations will be on hand on the shopping centre’s ground floor, to tell visitors more about how they help disabled people to live independent lives.
For the third year running, the Borough Council has organised this awareness-raising event to help mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It also provides a great opportunity to highlight the work of the Disabled Peoples’ Forum and partner organisations such as Action Support, Northamptonshire Sport, the Local Offer, Northampton Door to Door Service and Northamptonshire Association for the Blind.
Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Safety, Cllr Anna King, said: “Following the success of our previous events, we are pleased to highlight key disability support services to help mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
“The event forms part of our plans for supporting the national 16 Day of Activism campaign, which began on 24 November. We hope that people will join us at the shopping centre to show their support of the campaign and help us raise awareness and understanding of disability.”
