Parish Councillors wanted for Council committee
Northampton Borough Council is looking for two proactive Parish Councillors to join their Standards Committee.
Applicants for the roles will not only gain experience of working with a local government organisation and the ethical framework within which it operates. They will also use their keen analytical skills to help update the Council’s whistleblowing policy, develop a training programme for councillors, review the code of conduct and improve procedures for registering areas of interest, gifts and hospitality.
Applicants will need to be available to attend quarterly committee meetings at the Guildhall as well as any ad hoc meetings, needed to deal with case work.
If appointed to the Committee, the Parish Councillor co-optees will be entitled to a £500 annual allowance and reasonable expenses for travel and subsistence when they attend meetings.
For more information about the role or to apply, please download the application pack or contact Tracy Tiff on 01604 837408.
The closing date for applications is noon on 14 November, 2017. Interviews will be held on 20 November at the Guildhall.
