Share your views on options for Council Tax Reduction scheme

People in Northampton are being asked to have their say on how proposed changes to the Council Tax Reduction scheme may affect them.

The scheme provides financial support for people on low incomes to help pay their Council Tax bill.

Over the next four weeks, Northampton Borough Council will be asking about how the scheme is currently working as well as seeking views on the proposed changes. People will also have the chance to comment on the future of the scheme and how any changes, to be implemented from 1 April 2018, may impact on them.

Councillor Brandon Eldred, cabinet member for finance, said: “While we recognise that the proposed changes will affect many people, our recommendation will enable us to support as many people as possible in the long-term. I would encourage everyone who is likely to be affected by the proposed changes to take part in the consultation before 12 November.”

The consultation is available on the Council’s website and there will be five drop in sessions at the Guildhall for anyone interested in asking questions about the changes or looking to find out more about the scheme.

Everyone is welcome to come along:

  • Wednesday, 18 October 2017, 1pm - 4pm
  • Tuesday, 24 October 2017, 4.30pm – 6.30pm
  • Friday, 27 October 2017, 1pm – 4pm
  • Thursday, 2 November 2017, 1pm - 4pm
