Popular children’s train to return to Abington Park
The once iconic Abington Park train will be making a return next year as part of Northampton Borough Council’s commitment to improve play equipment across the Borough.
The train was removed from the park in 2008 following an act of vandalism, however memories of the children’s train are still fond for many raised in the town.
Speaking at a Council meeting tonight [Monday 12 December], Councillor Mike Hallam, cabinet member for environment, announced the plans to reinstate the train: “Many Northamptonians remember playing on the train in Abington Park while they were growing up, so I am delighted to announce that it will be returning to the park in 2017 as part of our wider commitment to improving play equipment.
“The new train will be of a more resilient design and the specific plans will be discussed with the Abington Park Management Committee at a meeting later this week.”
