Northampton Borough Council is working together with Screen Northants to produce a film for Holocaust Memorial Day 2017.

The short dramatic film will be produced to represent Northampton’s feelings on the 2017 theme for the Memorial Day – ‘How can life go on?’ and will premiere at the Council’s civic reception in the Guildhall in January 2017.

Cllr Anna King said: “We are pleased to be working with Screen Northants again this year to remember the Holocaust and honour all those affected by genocide.

“We encourage local communities to come together and get involved in the commemorative film project to help ensure that the causes and consequences of genocide are understood and not forgotten.”

Screen Northants is currently recruiting Northampton residents to help a professional film crew with producing ideas, planning and filming the short film. No experience is needed but they are largely looking to involve residents under 25 years old as well as those aged 55 years and over.

Regular meetings about the film project will be taking place from 12 October, right through to the filming of the project. Meetings already scheduled in include:

  • Wednesday 12 October at 6pm at Screen Northants, Grosvenor Centre
  • Tuesday 25 October (half term) 1.30pm at the Godwin Room, the Guildhall
  • Wednesday 9 November 6pm at Screen Northants, Grosvenor Centre
