Week of Action at Semilong and Regent Square

Published: Tuesday, 04 October 2016

A week of free events and activities is set to take place around Semilong and the Regent Square area, from Monday 10 to Saturday 15 October.

The activities are organised by the Northampton Community Safety Partnership as part of its week of action programme and will include a variety of activities for the whole family.

As part of the planned events, the Community Safety Partnership will be consulting with local people to find out what they think about their area and what issues they have. Advice will also be available on personal, family, and property safety. Environmental improvements will be ongoing throughout the week, with Community Payback and Neighbourhood Wardens cutting back shrubs, litter picking and generally tidying local areas.

Organised by partners from Northampton Borough Council, Northamptonshire Police, Northampton Partnership Homes, and other agencies, the week’s activities include:

  • Self-defence taster sessions
  • A hate crime awareness meeting
  • Crime prevention and home security advice
  • Litter picking
  • Dog micro-chipping

Cllr Mike Hallam, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said: “The week of action in the Semilong and Regent Square area is a great opportunity for local residents to get help and advice from a variety of different agencies whilst taking part in a local resident’s consultation. It is a fantastic chance for local people to come together to help improve their community.”

The week will culminate in a community fun day at Alliston Gardens Community Centre, on Saturday, 15 September.
