Northampton Borough Council have been working with Barclays’ Digital Eagles team since August 2015, offering practical sessions to help people access and make use of the internet.

Due to their popularity and the positive feedback received from participants, these sessions are now permanent fixtures on our partner agency support schedule, running weekly out of the One Stop Shop at the Guildhall.

Councillor Anna King, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement, said:

“I’m delighted that our collaboration with Barclays’ Digital Eagles has been recognised nationally and put us in the running to scoop the top prize in the Digital Skills Award category of the O2 NextGen Digital Challenge Awards 2016.

“The sessions we run provide the time, space and expertise to aid those that are unfamiliar with the internet or without the means to get online at home, and help them learn the basics of using and staying safe on the internet.

“Armed with this knowledge they can begin to take advantage of the benefits the internet brings such as cheaper prices and better deals, easy communication across the world and always-on services.”
