Local launch for Clean for The Queen
As part of this weekend’s Clean for The Queen campaign Northampton Borough Council will be holding a launch event at Travis Perkins headquarters on Friday 4 March at 12pm.
The launch will start off a litter-pick throughout the Lodge Farm Industrial Estate with businesses from the estate joining in to help.
Northampton’s local businesses, community groups and schools have been busy organising and promoting their own litter-picks events.
The Clean for The Queen campaign has won the backing of councils across the UK and is centred on a weekend of activity from 4 - 6 March.
Councillor Alan Bottwood, cabinet member for environment, said: ‘Clean for The Queen is about everyone working together to give the country a big spring clean ahead of Her Majesty’s birthday. It’s great that so many of Northampton’s businesses and residents are getting involved and have organised litter-picks in their local areas.”
Clean for The Queen campaign director Adrian Evans said: ‘It is great to see so many local authorities, including Northampton Borough Council, getting behind Clean for The Queen. Litter is a problem that affects every corner of the country. By taking part in Clean for The Queen, individuals, businesses and communities will not only be giving The Queen a suitably impressive gift to mark her 90th birthday, they will also be giving themselves and their area a present – a clean space in which to live, work and play.”
