Where your wellies can take you
As part of their “Give it Some Welly” exhibition, Northampton Museum & Art Gallery are promoting the “Where your wellies can take you” countryside initiative.
“Where your wellies can take you” is a scheme from the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire that celebrates the wonderful countryside in our area by asking the public to pull on their wellington boots and get outside.
Northampton Museum & Art Gallery are looking for the public to get involved in the “Give it Some Welly” exhibition by sending in photos of themselves in their wellies in the Northamptonshire countryside. They will then show the images on the big screen at the exhibition.
Councillor Brandon Eldred, cabinet member for Community Engagement, said: “Northamptonshire has some beautiful countryside and we would always encourage locals and visitors to explore the great green spaces we have. This initiative is a fun way to get all the family out and about, wearing their wellies and capturing some lovely photographs that will end up in the museum’s exhibition.”
Jane Pearman, Wildlife Trust BCN Reserves Manager for Northamptonshire, said, “Northampton residents are blessed to have a wealth of fantastic nature reserves right on their doorstep. There are six nature reserves in the town and 40 across Northamptonshire so wherever you live there is likely to be a nearby Wildlife Trust nature reserve to explore. It may be wet out there at the moment so wear your wellies!”
If you would like to get involved then please send your welly photos to: [email protected]
The exhibition “Give it Some Welly” runs from 6 February to 24 April at Northampton Museum & Art Gallery.
