Terms and conditions

Accessing Abington Park Museum

Fees

The group visit fee will be based on the information supplied by you and any subsequent changes may result in additional costs.  

Booking confirmation 

Confirmation of your booking and the group visit fee will be made in writing by the museum. Payment of a non-refundable deposit of 25% will be required to confirm your booking. The museum will invoice you for this. The deposit will be deducted from your final invoice.Your booking is provisional until confirmed by a signed copy of our terms and conditions for group visits and payment of the deposit. Payment must be made within 14 days of the deposit invoice being raised, otherwise the museum shall be entitled to cancel the provisional booking.

Payment

The final group visit fee balance will be invoiced 12 weeks before the event and must be paid six weeks before the event.  

Group visit logistics

  • Outline visit requirements and the schedule for your visit shall be discussed with the museum when booking the event. 
  • Please keep in touch with the museum to discuss and agree requirements well in advance of your event.
  • A questionnaire will be provided by the museum two months before the visit date in order to finalise and confirm the detailed arrangements for your group visit. You shall observe any conditions or restrictions which the museum may impose as to the use of any room or activities in any room. 

Health & safety requirements

You must follow museum staff instructions in the event of an emergency.  You should also be aware of the following:

  • Fire exits must be kept clear at all times
  • Smoking, use of e-cigarettes and vaping is not allowed in any part of the buildings 

Parking

There is no parking at the museum site. If you require a supply of leaflets giving further information about parking in the town centre please contact the museum. 

Photography & filming

  • Photography or filming of individual objects or exhibits forming part of the museum’s permanent displays or temporary exhibitions is strictly prohibited.
  • Filming of staff giving tours or talks is also prohibited.
  • Museum staff may take photos of group visits for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to grant this permission please let us know in writing.

Liability for loss or damage

  • The museum accepts no liability for loss, theft or breakage of any of the group’s equipment or personal effects.
  • The museum shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to any person or property arising out of the group visit, except to the extent that the same is due to any act or neglect of the museum, its employees, or any person for whom it is responsible

Cancellation by the booker

The group booker reserves the right to cancel his or her booking at any time. Cancellations must be made in writing to Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, 4-6 Guildhall Road, Northampton, NN1 1DP or by email to museums@northampton.gov.uk. If the group booker makes a cancellation they will forfeit the 25% deposit.  The group booker shall also be liable to the following scale of charges (including the 25% deposit):

Minimum six months prior to visit date     No additional fee
Three calendar months prior to visit date   50% of hire fee
Two calendar months prior to visit date      75% of hire fee
One calendar month prior to visit date       100% of hire fee

Cancellation by the museum

  • The museum reserves the right to terminate, without notice, any booking where the group booker breaches any of the terms and conditions, fails to fully inform the museum of the true nature of the booking, or where the booking threatens the safety and security of members of the public, museum staff and/or displays.
  • The museum reserves the right to cancel the booking in the event of emergency or for reasons beyond our control which would prevent us from fulfilling our obligation in connection with your booking. The museum’s decision to cancel in such circumstances is final. Any fee paid will then be returned to the group booker and the group booker will agree to accept it in full settlement of all claims, costs, losses and damages that the group booker might otherwise have against the museum from the cancellation.

Conduct of patrons

  • The group booker is responsible for the good order and conduct of their group members during the visit 
  • The museum reserves the right to evict any person who does not adhere to the conditions of the booking, or who is considered by museum staff to be a danger or offensive to other members of the public, staff or museum displays.
