Overview of the Place Marketing Strategy

Northampton Borough Council (NBC) is developing a Place Marketing Strategy for the town which aims to -

•    Increase inward investment
•    Increase tourism
•    Improve local perception and strengthening of civic pride

In March 2020, NBC undertook stage one of the Place Marketing Strategy for the town, this involved in-depth research conducted with a range of stakeholders, businesses, residents and people who live, work and study in the town, as well as capturing the views of those externally to discover the current perceptions of Northampton.

Due to the challenges that COVID-19 presented, all public engagement and consultation in the summer of 2020 was held virtually.

The Council undertook consultation with a wide range of key stakeholders, developed a resident & visitor survey, Northampton business survey and a national business survey which combined had 2000 responses. In addition, the Council engaged with resident and community groups, tourism organisation and local businesses.
