Celebrate transport from the past, present and future, with a wide variety of collectors sharing their enthusiasms. Building on last year’s successful Transport Day, this year we will expand further into the park with more activities and collections to explore. Northampton Transport Heritage will return with rides on board a selection of vintage buses around the Abington area. Vehicles will also be on display from Hannington Vintage Tractor Club, Rushden Heritage Transport Society, Northampton Mounts Fire Brigade, Northampton Neighbourhoods Policing Team and vintage cars from private collectors. Stalls inside the museum will include the new Silverstone Experience, a working Bassett Lowke Gauge One Model railway in action, 78 Derngate and Hollowell Model Yacht Club. Refreshments will also be available to purchase from a selection of transport themed stalls! A great activity for all the family this Father’s Day weekend!

Medieval Mayhem Family Fun Day

Saturday 10 AugustMedieval Mayhem
Abington Park Museum

Join us at the museum and the park for an action packed day for all the family, created by HistoryNeedsYou. It's August, 1485, and supporters of King Richard III are gathering at Northampton to prepare for battle against the invader, Henry Tudor. Children of all ages are invited to come and meet the archers, men at arms and nobles in their spectacular armour. Experience medieval life and battle, be drilled and try your hand at knightly skills. Any unruly subjects may be punished by having cabbages thrown at them in the stocks! A wise woman will be on hand to heal the sick and demonstrate herbal cures, while a monk will teach you how to write with a quill pen. With medieval music and hands-on activities for all to enjoy. Suitable for all ages. Activities will be taking place throughout the museum and in the park. Some activities may be on the first floor, accessed by stairs only.
Free admission.
