Japanese Cooking Workshop

Sunday 30 SeptemberJapanese cooking workshop 1
Abington Park Museum

Learn how to make Japanese food in this two-hour workshop and tasting session from Yuko Nakayama. Yuko has lived in the UK for the past 10 years and creates authentic Japanese dinner parties in peoples’ homes through her unique Japanese home dining service, Omotenashi Dining. Yuko prepares home-cooked Japanese food, showing there is much more to Japanese cuisine than sushi. The menu is designed around the current season as seasonality and freshness are
key to Japanese food.
Four items will be prepared and may include dishes such as spinach with creamy walnut tofu sauce and pan-fried salmon marinated in rice vinegar, but may vary depending on ingredient availability.
Throughout the workshop attendees will also be introduced to aspects of Japanese culture, including the significance placed on how the food looks as well as how it tastes.
Suitable for ages 16 and over.
After booking, you will be informed of a list of basic utensils to bring.
Please note that whilst we can cater for some food intolerances, due to the nature of the food being prepared this workshop may not be suitable for everyone. If you have a specific intolerance or queries please contact the museum in advance of booking.
