Nasty Northampton Activities for the summer holidays

Fun Science led by members of the Natural History Society

An interactive hands-on science workshop using stereo-microscopes to get a close look at some specimens including rocks, coins and feathers.

The Archaeology of Diet led by members of the Museum of London Archaeology

Can you sail your own model boat? Join us for an afternoon with Abington Park Model Yacht Club to learn how to sail your very own model yacht. Decorate and find out how to set up your yacht. Then, take a trip with us down to Abington Park boating lake to test your boat sailing skills and race against the other model boats.
Suitable for children aged five and over. The learning session will take place from 1-2pm, with the trip to the boating lake from 2-3pm. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. This activity will involve support from a supervising adult to enable the child to participate.

Radio Sailing with Abington Park Model Yacht Club - sold out

Join Abington Park Model Yacht Club to learn all about sailing a radio controlled boat over two afternoons. No need to bring your own boat, yachts will be provided by Abington Park Model Yacht Club for you to try. Day one will involve a short session at the museum, learning about the radio controlled yacht, followed by a trip to Abington Park boating lake to learn how to operate the yachts on the water.
The Thursday session will start with some basic theory, followed by a mini regatta with a small prize for the winner!
Suitable for children aged eight and over. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. This activity will involve support from a supervising adult to enable the child to participate.

WW1 Centenary Workshop

Join us at Abington Park Museum and take part in craft activities to mark 100 years since the end of World War I.
Make felt poppies and your own felt medal, and learn about the sacrifices made in WWI. Decorate a paper bunting flag in memory of those who died in WWI for us to keep and display at our Armistice Day event on the Market Square on Sunday 11 November.

Day of the Dead Workshop

Come and learn about the Mexican festival Dia de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a festival which remembers and honours loved ones who have died.
Paint a sugar skull tea light holder, decorate a sugar skull mask and make a traditional headdress or hat.

Tour by Torch Light

Join us for an exclusive after hours tour of Abington Park Museum, especially for children!
Take a tour by torch light around our galleries, look out for clues to help us solve our spooky Halloween mystery.
After the tour, settle down for some spooky stories over candle light.
Not suitable for children who are afraid of the dark or get spooked easily!
Tour is for children only. Parents may stay at the event, but will be asked to remain in the function room whilst children go on the tour.

Victorian Christmas

Experience Victorian Christmas at Abington and see Santa Claus at this family friendly event. There will be carol singing, hot roast and Christmas crafts including making paper chains, crackers and salt dough ornaments.
