Annual Canvass 2017 - Electoral Register
From 26th July 2017 Household Enquiry Forms will be posted out to all households. Look out for your form arriving on your doorstep. We are required to write to each household as part of an Annual Canvass to confirm that the information we have on the electoral register for that property is correct.
It is a legal requirement for the owner or occupier to provide the information requested; if you don’t you could be fined £1,000.
On the inside of the form are the names of the people who are currently registered to vote at your address. If the form is blank that means no one is registered.
It is vital householders complete this information as quickly as possible. You need to provide this information in order to either confirm or update your details on the electoral register and to be able to vote in any elections that may occur in 2018.
What if all the details are the same?
If all the details are the same, you must confirm this to us. You can do this by:
Calling: 0800 197 9871 and when prompted enter part 1 and part 2 of your security code
If you are unable to use any of the above options, you can complete the form and post it back to us. Please do not return the form if you've confirmed using one of the automated options above.
What if the details are different?
If you need to add, remove or amend someone's name please complete the form and post it back to us.
Don't forget to include any 16, 17 or 18 year olds!
This is an enquiry form only - if you add someone's details to the form they will not appear on the electoral register. They can register individually or we will send them a personalised registration form.
What is the open register?
There are two versions of the register - the electoral register and the open register. Your details will appear on the electoral register, but you can choose to exclude your details from the open register by choosing to 'opt out.' The electoral register is used for elections, preventing and detecting crime, and checking applications for credit. The open register is available for general sale and can be used for commercial activities such as marketing.
