Apply for planning permission and pre-application advice
Northampton Borough Council's planning service can provide pre-application advice to applicants. Pre-application discussions should help the prospective applicant to receive the best possible service, and are positively encouraged by the planning authority to encourage suitable and good quality development.
If you are ready to submit your planning application, you can do so quickly and easily using the planning portal.
Northampton Borough Council prefers to receive planning applications online in order to save the Council time and money. By submitting your application online you will have the advantages of immediate delivery and acknowledgement, savings on postage and printing costs, online help when completing your application and an online record of your application.
If you would prefer to make a planning application using a paper form, you can print the appropriate form.
Each application must be submitted with the appropriate fee.
A design and access statement will need to accompany all outline planning applications, most types of full applications and all applications involving Listed Building Consent.
Any pre-application advice made in relation to a development that later becomes a valid and formal planning application will be made available to the public and form part of the supporting application documentation for viewing on the council’s website.
