Disabled blue badge holders
The Blue Badge scheme is operated by Northamptonshire County Council. You can find out more about Blue Badges, and make enquiries, on their Blue Badge web pages.
Northampton Borough Council staff are not able to deal with Blue Badge enquiries.
Blue Badge parking
Blue Badge holders can park free of charge in any of the borough council's car parks
Please ensure that your Blue Badge is displayed correctly (expiry date facing up) so Civil Enforcement Officers (previously Parking Attendants) can easily check who is in possession of a valid Blue Badge. This also helps us to make sure disabled bays are available to those who need them most. Each of the borough council's car parks has a number of bays set aside for motorists with mobility issues. Most of these bays have additional space to help with wheelchair access and other needs.
Access to pay on foot car parks
Mayorhold car park
Designated disabled parking bays on the entrance level (level 2): turn left after driving through the barrier.
St John's multi-storey car park
Designated disabled parking bays on floors 1, 4 and 6
St Michael's multi-storey car park
Designated disabled parking bays on floor 2, beside the operative's office.
Blue Badge holders wishing to park in any of the pay on foot multi-storey car parks listed above, should enter by taking a ticket as normal.
To exit just press the intercom button on the exit barrier. A member of staff will then either come to your vehicle and check your badge before raising the barrier for you, or they will ask you to show the badge to the camera located on all of the exit stations and then remotely open the barrier for you.
Scooters 2 Go mobility service - Mayorhold Shoppers Car Park
The Shopmobility service can be found on floor 3 of the Mayorhold car park.
Parking bays are available right outside the service and there is a pedestrian exit onto the street from level 3
