What is Citizen Access?

Citizen Access is a service contained within MyAccount that allows you to manage your Council Tax account. You can use the portal to:

  • See your account, including your account balance and recent payments
  • Tell us you are moving to a new house
  • Apply for discounts and exemptions
  • Set up a direct debit to pay your Council Tax or amend an existing direct debit
  • See which Council Tax band a property is in

What you will need

To access all the features you will firstly need:

  • A registered and verified MyAccount
  • Your full name exactly as shown on your Council Tax bill
  • Your Council Tax account number (you can find this on your bill)

Security questions

You will then need to answer two of the following four security questions:

  • The online key reference (shown on the front of your bill)
  • The postcode of the address the bill relates to
  • The last three digits of the telephone number we hold for you
  • The last three digits of your bank account if you already pay us by direct debit

When you register you will be sent a verification email to your registered email address. You must verify your registration within 24 hours of receipt.
