Council Tax: budget and repayment offer

Council Tax budget and repayments

If you are struggling to pay your Council Tax instalments, and you are in arrears, you can make a payment offer to us by using our budget and repayment offer form.

Make a repayment offer

If your account has been passed to our enforcement agents (previously known as bailiffs) for collection of the debt, we will advise you to contact the enforcement agents direct to discuss repayment.

To help us to make a decision on your offer and understand your personal circumstances, please complete the form, giving details of your income and expenditure.

When completing this form please think carefully about both your income and your outgoings. When providing information regarding your income please do not forget to include any benefits, maintenance or pension payments you are receiving.

With respect to your spending please be realistic: if your figures are too low you will find it difficult to maintain any arrangement made. Alternatively if you think your spending is higher than the typical household, it is important to tell us why your spending might be high. We will then have a true reflection of your circumstances to ensure that any payment arrangement made is reasonable and sustainable.

When you are ready to submit the form, you can request email or text confirmation that we have received it, which automatically submits the form to us and sends the receipt to you as you have requested.

We will consider your income and expenditure, your total debts, and any other circumstances affecting your ability to pay, and contact you with a decision.

We aim to respond within ten working days.
