Northampton in Bloom
About the competition
Northampton in Bloom is a local competition that encourages schools, community groups, residents, businesses, allotments and parish councils to get involved in horticulture and community projects for the benefit of residents and visitors to the town. Once again the number of participants in Northampton in Bloom grew last year, to 72 and we are aiming for at least 80 this year.
You don't have to be a Monty Don or have acres of land to enter; you just need enthusiasm.
Each year, Northampton enters East Midlands in Bloom, the regional competition which is part of Britain in Bloom. Last year we won a silver gilt medal and our aim this year is to top this by achieving gold.
The judges will be visiting the town during the first two weeks of July - look out for the confirmed date nearer the time.
Northampton in Bloom has an annual theme which, this year, is 'all things bright and bloom-ing-ful' which gives lots of room for interpretation. We look forward to seeing the innovative and colourful ideas people have come up with when the judging takes place during July and August.
How to enter the competition
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for a registration form or telephone 01604 837357. If you require any guidance for your project, one of our Neighbourhood Wardens would be happy to speak to you.
The culmination of everyone’s hard work is celebrated in an awards evening in October. This brings everyone together, and entrants are able to share their experiences and, most importantly, find out what medal they have achieved. Northampton is also presented with its award for East Midlands in Bloom. This is a very popular event in the Bloom calendar and the highlight of the year.
