Virtual International Day of People with Disabilities
Northampton’s disabled people's forum will host a virtual programme of activities marking the International Day of People with Disabilities on Thursday, 3 December.
To mark the day and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with all abilities, promote awareness, understanding and acceptance in the community the forum will host a virtual Disability Awareness Day via Northampton Borough Council's YouTube channel from 10am on Thursday, 3 December. The information-packed virtual event hosted by Kian Saville, disabled people's forum member, will also look to raise awareness of the different support, sports and work opportunities available to disabled people in the town.
Additionally, information, activities and personal experiences from local residents will be shared as part of the event aiming to highlight this year’s theme ‘Not all disabilities are visible’ raising awareness and understanding of disabilities that are not immediately apparent, such as mental illness, learning differences and cognitive dysfunctions, chronic pain or fatigue, sight or hearing impairments, brain injuries, diabetes and neurological disorders among others.
Residents are encouraged to show their support by signing and sharing uplifting messages through an e-card click here to sign the card
Facebook users can also help spread awareness about the International Day of People With Disabilities by updating their profile with an IDPWD proud supporter profile frame available at profile frame gallery or sharing a support message that would include the hashtags #idpwd #inclusionisforeverybody and #idpwd2020.
