Virtual Hate Crime Awareness Week
Northampton Borough Council and partners are coming together this October to raise awareness of hate crime via a virtual programme of activities marking the national hate crime awareness week.
Taking place from 10 to 17 October the campaign aims to reinforce the message embodied by the slogan “We Stand Together” and educate residents about the different types of hate crime, empower communities affected by hate crime and encourage the reporting of such incidents, whether it's just one isolated instance or repeated harassment by the same person or group of people.
Documentaries, performances, online events, poems and messages of support from local residents will be shared throughout the week via Northampton Borough Council's Facebook page.
Additionally, on Thursday 15 October Northampton Women’s Forum will host a virtual conference “BAME Women in a time of crisis” exploring how BAME communities have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, and how BAME women have risen to the challenge. The event will be streamed live on Northampton Borough Council's YouTube channel from 1pm to 2.30pm.
