Summary 

We would like to hear your views about our new scheme.

On the 1 April 2013 Northampton Borough Council introduced our own local discount scheme, which helps people on low incomes pay their Council Tax. This scheme is called the Local Council Tax Reduction scheme or CTR for short.

The CTR scheme is funded with a limited amount of money made available from central Government. This means we had to design a scheme each year that makes sure financial support is available during a time of reduced Council funding.

To make sure that the Council’s CTR scheme remains affordable we are considering a number of options, which we would like to hear your views on.  

This is also your opportunity to have a say on how this may affect you and your feedback will inform decisions over the setting of our budget later this year.

Please note that the changes to our scheme will not affect customers who have reached their state retirement age and at the same time are not receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Universal Credit or Employment & Support Allowance.
