In light of the current Covid-19 situation, all our officers are now remote working from home, therefore we are running at reduced capacity at this time.
If you require an inspection visit please call 01604 838920, our officers will take details from you and arrange for an inspector to call you back to discuss your requirements and where possible make alternative arrangements with you. If you are asked to submit photographs or video evidence of the work, please email to [email protected] with your application number and/or site location as the title of your email.

Building Regulations - Temporary arrangements for site inspection notifications
As a result of the Government’s announcement of measures to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, it has been necessary to review our current inspection arrangements for works under construction.
You will have received your project specific inspection regime in our acknowledgement letter, which indicates the inspection stages that you should notify us of during construction. Please ensure that you notify us at commencement and when all other inspection stages have been reached. Please get in contact on 01604 838920 if you need more information.
Please continue to notify us of each inspection stage by telephone or by sending an email to [email protected]. Please include a phone number in the email so that we can make contact with you about the visit.
You will be asked whether anyone at the site has been advised to self-isolate, is unwell or has recently returned from overseas travel to an affected area. We will decide on a case by case basis whether a site inspection is essential and we will contact you if we are unable to attend. These temporary arrangements will remain in place until such time that the Government advises us that normal business arrangements can resume.
The work of the Building Control team
Building Regulations are made by the government with the aim of securing reasonable standards of health and safety for people in and about buildings. In addition they cover other issues affecting buildings such as access, thermal performance and appropriate sound insulation between buildings. Our Building Control team is dedicated to providing an impartial and local service to the people of Northampton to help them to comply with the Building Regulations.
