Come on Northampton – let’s get walking
Published Tuesday, 15 September 2009
Instead of going for a drink after work this Friday, why not try something enjoyable and healthy?
As part of Get Northamptonshire Walking Week, Northampton Borough Council has organised a one-hour guided walk in Harlestone on Friday, 18 September. There is no need to register, just turn up at the Wyvale Garden Centre reception from 5.45pm to complete a short form, before the walk begins at 6.15pm
The walking week has been set-up by Northamptonshire Sport and the countywide Health Walk Group, who is also raising money for the British Heart Foundation - you can either be sponsored to do the walk or simply make a donation on the day.
By including walking in your lifestyle, it encourages greater levels of fitness, increased flexibility, weight control and an increase in energy. The borough council's sports development unit coordinate Health Walks around the town, every week, all year round to help the people of Northampton get fitter in a social and pleasurable way.
To obtain a sponsor form or for more information on the Harlestone Health Walk, contact Steve Johnson on 01604 837 704
Walkers must wear suitable clothing and footwear and are advised to bring a drink with them
