Footballers in Kingsthorpe and Dallington will start the new season in style with newly refurbished changing facilities.

Over the summer the changing facilities at Kingsthorpe Recreation Ground and Dallington Park have been completely refurbished and brought up to date. This is thanks to an investment of £135,000 from Northampton Borough Council supported by a grant of over £58,000 from the Football Foundation.

Teams will now enjoy the comfort of new heating and ventilation systems, improvements to the washing and changing areas, new dedicated areas for cleaning and caring for boots and better security.

The work is now completed and everything is in place for the hundreds of players and teams that use both parks week in and week out. On Thursday 1 September any players, coaches and managers are welcome to get a sneak peak at the new facilities ahead of the new season kicking off. Dallington Sports Pavilion will be open at 10am and Kingsthorpe Sports Pavilion will be open at 11am.

Councillor Tim Hadland, Northampton Borough Council's cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise said: "Every week thousands of people are involved in grass roots football across Northampton. Playing in all weathers these teams deserve top quality facilities to support their commitment to the game. And who knows, maybe one of the young footballers who will benefit from these new facilities will become a future England star."

The project was funded with the help the Football Foundation. Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government via Sport England, the Football Foundation is the nation's largest sports charity. Since it was launched in 2000, the Foundation has awarded around 8,000 grants worth more than £420m towards improving grassroots sport, which it has used to attract additional partnership funding of over £520m.

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation said: "We are delighted that footballers in two areas of Northampton will have access to these fantastic new facilities and commend the Borough Council and the County FA for their hard work in making this happen."

"This is the latest example of thousands of projects across the country that the Football Foundation is supporting with money provided by our funding partners the Premier League, The FA and Government."
