A summer of live music in Abington Park

Published Wednesday 26th May 10

Park goers will be able to enjoy live music every weekend this summer as the new Bands in the Park season is announced.

Abington Park will host a season of live music as Bands in the Park returns to the bandstand for another summer of music in the park. Northampton Borough Council's events team has booked a band to perform in the park every Sunday in June, July and August.

The new season starts on Sunday 6 June with the Gretton Silver Band and finishes 13 weeks later with Tad Newton Jazz Friends on 29 August. Each band will be performing between 2pm and 5pm and as always it is free to watch and an excellent excuse to spend a lazy summer afternoon in the park.

Councillor Paul Varnsverry, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for culture said: "Every year Bands in the Park brings people to Abington Park from far and wide. It is an opportunity to enjoy some of the best local bands performing in the beautiful park setting.

"Every year Northampton Borough Council's events team works hard to ensure a popular selection of bands is booked to play in Abington Park, and they have repeated it again by bringing us a strong line up for 2010."

The full full schedule is:

6 June - Gretton Silver Band
13 June - Milton Keynes Brass
20 June - Northampton Male Voice Choir
27 June - Kibworth Band
