Let the Battle Commence!

Come and experience the Battle of Northampton at Delapre Abbey! The Friends of Delapre Abbey are again to host an original and fun filled event!
At the Delapre Abbey situated on London Road a fulfilled weekend of Battle related activites on the 3rd and 4th of July 2010 will take place to mark the 550th Anniversary of the event. These are to include:
· Jousting on horseback with full armour
· Gunpowder demonstration
· Static living history displays of soldiers encampment
· A re-enactment part of battle of Northampton
· Large Canon Demonstration
· Falconery
The activities will be created by Plantagenet Events Ltd whom have been involved in some major events over the past years as historical events have become more and more popular.
In addition there will be various market traders and stalls to browse as well as a variety of food stalls and is therefore suitable for all the family! Medieval food and real ale and old English ciders will also be available for visitors to really experience the Battle of Northampton!
This is the chance for residents of Northamptonshire to experience a historical event of this kind and in extremely scenic surroundings too!
Friends of Delapre Abbey are looking for help from any schools and colleges in Northamptonshire by creating life sized Flags and Shields relevant to the War of the Roses. This is an exciting opportunity for local institutions and their pupils to be involved in this local historical event!
