Dealing with Graffiti
How to remove graffiti
Small areas of graffiti can often be added to so attempting removal is considered the best option.
You can try this yourself or contact Street Care Services to take advantage of our FREE graffiti removal service.
The success of graffiti removal depends on a number of conditions such as the type of surface affected, the age of the graffiti and also the type of paint used.
Shiny surfaces such as polished brick, metal, glass, tiles and a lot of street furniture (street signs, lampposts, telephone boxes etc.) are the easiest to work with.
A kitchen-scouring pad, some household detergent plus a bit of elbow grease can work well with fresh graffiti on these surfaces.
Painted surfaces like walls and fences can simply be painted over again, although you may need to use several coats to stop the graffiti "bleeding" through.
Porous surfaces like concrete and brick are the hardest to shift graffiti from as the paint penetrates deeper into the material the longer it's left.
In some cases this is probably best left to the professionals so contact Street Care Services to arrange removal of the graffiti FREE of charge.
If you think you know the identity of graffiti vandals in your area you can give any information anonymously to CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111.
