Composting
Home Composting
Home composting is easy! You don't have to be especially green fingered or need any magic touch in the garden to be able to make your own compost.
By following some simple rules, within six to twelve months, you will have a ready supply of rich compost to use in your garden.
Not only will you save money on shop bought compost by making your own, you will cut down on the amount of waste you put in your black wheelie bin or black sack.
You can use your homemade compost as a soil improver, for mulching, potting, tubs and baskets: basically anywhere that you would use shop bought compost.
The following pages are intended to be a brief guide to home composting. If you would like to know more please look at the related links or contact the Customer Contact Centre by e-mail recycling@northampton.gov.uk or telephone 01604 83 82 81.
