An additional responsibility for owners under the Party Wall Act
In addition to obtaining any Building Regulation Approval or Planning Permission, The Party Wall Act also makes you responsible for consulting your neighbours in the following circumstances:
- Building on or astride the boundary line.
- If work directly affects a party wall or other shared structure (but not fences).
- Where excavations could affect the neighbours' foundations.
