Heritage Open Days in Northampton

9th - 12th September 2010

Visit many of Northampton's most historic or interesting buildings. There are also trips, walks and talks. A heritage bus service will link most of the buildings outside the town centre.

New for 2010 - Irchester Country Park and Chester Farm

Copies of the Heritage Open Days booklet can be obtained at the Visitor Centre (George Row), Northampton Museum (Guildhall Road) and the Derngate Theatre. It has also been distributed to all Tourist Information Offices and Libraries in Northamptonshire, and major towns in adjoining counties.

If you are unable to visit any of these locations and would like a copy to be posted, please send us your name and address.

Changes since the publication of the booklet

  • Additional building: Church of St George the Martyr, Wootton (open on Saturday from 1-4pm)
  • Guildhall, Sunday: The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jamie Lane, and Deputy Mayoress, Mrs Victoria McKee, will be in the Mayor's Parlour to meet people and explain something of the history of the Mayoralty.

Note: the Royal and Derngate Theatres entry has been added to the town centre page, having been missed off by mistake - apologies.

Heritage Open Days is part of European Heritage Days - a Council of Europe initiative.  English Heritage runs the event in England, with help with funding from the Open University. Northampton's contribution is co-ordinated by Northampton Borough Council.
