Recycling, rubbish and waste

New collections calendar - From 23 January

For many residents this will mean a change in your collection day.  This is so we can introduce the new service and continue to keep costs low.

Weekly food & textiles collections

From January 23 we are starting a new weekly food & textiles waste collection service. Find out more information here

Please note that missed bin collections must be reported within 24 hours.

Weekly food waste collection (from Jan 2012)

Outdoor food waste bin
Keep your larger food bin outside. You can lock it by moving the handle forward to stop pests and spillage.

Indoor brown food caddy
Line your caddy with a sheet of newspaper or corn starch liner. Do not use plastic bags. When it is full, transfer into the larger food bin.

Weekly recycling collections

Green recycling box
Newspaper, magazines and paper (including shredded paper), cardboard, wrapping paper (not metallic), envelopes, junk mail, telephone directories.

Blue recycling box
Plastic bottles, other plastics (e.g. yoghurt, pots, margarine tubs), batteries (bagged), foil, food and drink cans, aerosols, large tins (e.g.seasonal chocolates).

Black recycling box

  • Glass bottles & jars
  • Spectacles

Textile recycling (from Jan 23, 2012)
Place old clothes, shoes and textiles into bags, tie them up and leave them with your boxes. Please do NOT use black bags.

Please note that if your boxes are full, you can leave extra recycling out, providing it is left in CLEAR BAGS, not black sacks.

Fortnightly bin collections

Please use it to dispose of any non-food waste you cannot recycle.

Brown wheelie bin

  • Garden waste
  • Flowers & plants
If you wish to purchase a second brown bin, there is a charge of £30.64 and the bin must must be collected from the Westbridge depot.
