Education Programme for Schools
Northampton Museums Education Service offers a lively and stimulating programme of learning sessions for students of all ages and levels.
Please note: From 19 February 2017 the museum at Guildhall Road will be closed for a major new expansion project and no longer open for schools visits. We will still be facilitating visits at Abington Park Museum and our most popular Guildhall Road sessions will be transferred there.
On-site learning sessions are facilitated by Museum Staff and take place at both Northampton Museum & Art Gallery (until 19 February 2017) and Abington Park Museum.
Self-directed visits are welcome during opening hours. We request that group bookings are made in advance to avoid overcrowding in the galleries.
Telephone 01604 838544 to book your visit with the Learning Team.
Outreach sessions are delivered in the classroom by a member of the Museum Learning Team. Our sessions use both original and replica items and cover a number of different topics.
Museum object loans boxes are very popular and contain original and replica items, with a teacher’s guide and activity plans. Boxes are available to hire for half a term at a time. They are themed and link with subjects taught in the classroom with students from key stage 1 to 4.
