Northampton Borough Council
Northampton Borough Council

Summary

The council’s contract for the provision of its Environmental Services is coming to an end in June 2018.

The main services included in the current contract are:

The council has started to review how these services could be delivered in Northampton in the future. The council has therefore set up a Programme Board to oversee this important review.

Community engagement will be central to this process. Community groups have been formally engaged and are already working closely with officers.

Finally, an experienced manager has been appointed to oversee the review and ensure it is delivered successfully.

Consultation and engagement

Northampton Borough Council is seeking the public’s views on waste, recycling and other environmental services as part of a review of what the service should like in the future.

Ahead of the contract ending, the council is now reviewing the services to ensure any new contract meets the needs of Northampton’s residents, within the financial resources available.

An independent market research company (Ipsos MORI) were commissioned to carry out a minimum of 1,000 face to face interviews with a representative sample of Northampton residents to help inform the council how it should move forward with the new service. The survey took place during August and September.

We would like to extend our research to all residents of Northampton to ensure everybody has an opportunity to have their say. This survey is a key part of the process of the re-provision of environmental services and will help us understand people’s priorities and preferences and how the service could change to better meet local needs.

Complete the survey

To take part, please complete our online survey by 5pm on 31 January 2017, at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/nbcenvironment

The research findings are forming part of a full environmental services review being conducted by the council which is already underway and includes information gathering and analysis from a range of sources, including benchmarking against other local authorities, community engagement and financial modelling.
